Summer placement scheme
We were delighted to be the recipients of a 2010 Lawcareers.Net* Training and Recruitment Award (TARA). At a ceremony on 10 June 2010, attended by representatives from over 77 law firms, we stepped up to receive the award for 'Best Work Placement Scheme – Ciy firm', winning against some pretty stiff competition. We're extremely happy that all the hard work and commitment that goes into our scheme has been recognised, it really is a team effort involving everyone at the firm. We're doubly delighted as this is the second year in a row that we've won this award!
We run a summer placement scheme in every year. Each placement gives candidates an opportunity to experience the firm, the work it does and the skills we value. There are up to 10 placements available.
The scheme involves a mixture of work experience - you could be helping draft documents, attending client meetings, participating in conference calls or completing research projects. Some of our previous summer students have experienced hearings or arbitrations. We try to involve you as much as possible in whatever work there is going on at the time you are with us, so that your two weeks proves to be a meaningful experience and you can see the benefits of beginning and continuing your career at our firm.
We also organise workshops, training sessions, talks and discussions so you get the opportunity to understand more about the challenges and professional development opportunities you will have at our firm.
If this all sounds rather serious, we do make sure there is plenty of opportunity for fun too. Some of the workshops are designed to bring each group of summer students together so they can work as a team and enjoy each other's company. Solid friendships have often been formed during the two weeks at our offices. Current trainees will also see to it that after hours socialising isn't neglected!
To apply please complete the application form by clicking the 'apply now' button on the left. Whilst the final deadline is 24 February 2012, we will begin to review forms and shortlist from 1 January 2012. We do conduct interviews for the scheme. These are normally held with a member of trainee recruitment and an experienced associate.
